HOCKEY ACT

PRIMARY SCHOOLS GALA DAY

Wednesday 15th May 2024

The Hockey ACT Primary School Gala Day is a great opportunity for students to develop their skills and enjoy a fun day with other school teams. Schools can enter teams from years 3/4 and/or 5/6. We welcome students of all ages, abilities and skill levels and are proud to be able to provide modified equipment to make the game more inclusive for all students.

Day: Wednesday 15th May 2024
Time: 9am – 3pm
Location: National Hockey Centre, Lyneham
Cost: Free

Equipment: Balls and Sticks provided by Hockey ACT - Students welcome to bring their own sticks if they have them.
*we recommend all participants bring a mouthguard and shin pads

GAMES
Round Robin Games 3-5 games per team (dependant on team registrations)
23-minute games centrally timed
Participation-based - No finals or winners

GAME TIMING
10 minutes (first half)
3 minutes half time
10 minutes (second half)
8 minutes between games
Centrally timed games - Please ensure all games begin on time. 

TEAMS
6-a-side on field
7 - 10 players recommended max per team
Grades 3/4 & 5/6
Teams can be mixed-gender.

EQUIPMENT

All playing equipment (sticks, balls, field markers and goals) will be provided by Hockey ACT.
Hookin2Hockey sticks will be provided for all participants
Smooth lighter hockey ball
Small goals

UNIFORMS & PROTECTIVE ITEMS
Players will be required to have a team uniform (School PE/Sport Uniform recommended). For safety, players are strongly advised to wear mouthguards and shin-pads during gameplay.
