Andrew Brick
Andrew Brick has been an active member of Hockey ACT and the Central Hockey Club since 1976 as a player, coach and administrator and has made an exceptional contribution to the Association through these avenues.
As a player Andrew/Bricky played for the Central Hockey Club in both juniors and seniors between 1976 and 2013. During this period, he was named as the Senior Team Captain over 4 various years. He went on to represent the ACT at U12, U14, U16 and U17 levels.
Andrew has made a large contribution within the Hockey ACT Regionals and Nationals Competitions. Bricky began his outdoor Hockey ACT coaching and managing in 2017 and has continued through to 2024 with the only gap being due to covid in 2020.
Along with the Outdoor commitment, Bricky has made significant contribution to the Hockey ACT Indoor Competitions. Andrew began his Indoor representation in 1989 as the U19 ACT Team Manager, with some time off after 11 years, Bricky rejoined the team in 2015 as the ACT Opens Assistant Coach and again has continued to support as a Coach and as a Manager throughout the last 9 years. Overall, Andrew has committed to 20 years in the Indoor environment. This is an incredible stint and has contributed greatly to the success of the ACT teams at the National Level.
In addition to Coaching and Managing Indoor and Outdoor Representative Teams, Bricky has made an extensive contribution to the development and success of Central within both the Junior and Senior levels. He has coached numerous Men’s and Junior Boy’s Outdoor Teams starting in 1988 and continuing through to 2023 with brief time off in between. Bricky has also coached the Central Boys and Girls teams, the Girl’s team in 2010 and the Boy’s team from 2016-2018. Bricky has previously coached the Minkey (Hookin2Hockey) in 2012-2013. He has also sat on many of the Central Hockey Clubs Committees starting in 2003 to 2023.
Andrew has contributed his time and knowledge to the U13-U18 ACT Regional Committee beginning in 2017, this continued on until 2019 where he then joined the Senior Field Competition Rules Review Committee. Bricky has also supported the Association as an umpire in 2020-21 and continues to jump into fill empty spots as needed and supports the ACT team trials/selection events as required.
Bricky is a fantastic overall team person and assists in many key parts in which are not documented. He often volunteers to drive team buses to Sydney for representative matches and jumped in to assist the 2024 U21 Men as a temporary Team Manager for a day while the listed Team Manager was unwell and in hospital.
For his contribution to the Club and Hockey ACT, Central Hockey Club awarded Bricky Life Membership and Gold Medallion recognition.
In line with the terms outlined by Hockey ACT for consideration of Life Membership of the Association, the Central Hockey Club Board believes that Bricky satisfies the criteria for Life membership. His contribution to the Association has been exceptional and beyond what would be normally expected. His personal character reflects the values of the Association. He has demonstrated exceptional contribution to the administration of the sport; exceptional leadership; and exceptional contribution as a player, coach and Club administrator.
It is with high regard, it is recommended that Andrew Brick, for his outstanding contribution and dedication to Hockey in the ACT be awarded with Life Membership of Hockey ACT.
