Regionals Wrap Up

The Canberra Regionals Program has wrapped up for 2024! Plenty of opportunities for our talented athletes to travel and play across many locations.

Under 18:

In April, the Under 18 Canberra players travelled to Macarthur Regional Complex in Narellan to compete at the Under 18’s NSW State Championship.
The U18 girls played as Canberra and the U18 boys combined and played as Albury Wodonga.

The Canberra girls placed 2^nd in Division 3 and the Albury Wodonga boys placed 3^rd in Division 3.

Under 16:

In June, the Under 16’s travelled to Bathurst (Girls) and Grafton (Boys) to compete at the NSW State Championships. Unfortunately, the Goulburn Carnival set for May was cancelled.

The Girls placed 5^th in Division 1 and 10^th in Division 2 and the Boys placed 10^th in Division 1.

Under 14:

In May, the Under 14’s travelled to Taree (Boys) and Wagga Wagga (Girls) to compete at the Under 14 NSW State Championships. Unfortunately, the Goulburn Carnival set for April was cancelled as well.

The Girls placed 7^th in Division 1, 5^th in Division 2 and 8^th in Division 4 and the Boys placed 3^rd in Division 1 and 8^th in Division 2.

Under 12:

More recently in July, the Under 12’s travelled to Tamworth to compete in the Kim Small Shield and the York Cup. Both teams had a great weekend and results with the girls finishing 5^th in Kim Small Shield Division A and the Boys finishing 5^th in the York Cup Division A.

The Boys and Girls then travelled to Goulburn to play in a one-day Goulburn Carnival where the Boys placed 2^nd in Division 1, 4^th/5^th in Division 2, and the Girls placed 2^nd in Division 1 and 2^nd in Division 2.

Finally, we cannot forget Hockey ACT held the June Long Weekend Carnival, which brought an incredible 67 teams to play across Southwell Park, the National Hockey Centre, Tuggeranong Hockey Park and for the first time, the brand new, Queanbeyan – Palerang Sport Complex! This was a fantastic weekend which saw Canberra win the Under 14 Division 1 Boys, U12 Boys and the Mike McDermid Shield!

The Canberra Regionals would not happen without the Coaches, Managers, Umpires, Volunteers, Associations, Families and Staff that pull it all together. Thank you to all that were involved with the programs.
