2025 Indoor Nationals Wrap Up

 

The 2024/25 Hockey Australia Indoor Nationals have finished up for the year after 5 back to back tournaments. 
Each tournament featured 1 male and 1 female ACT team which competed against the country's best.

Opens

The Open's tournament kicked off the first of the campaigns from the 14th - 18th of December.
The women went through their tournament with 5 Wins, 1 Draw and 2 Losses which saw them through to the Bronze Medal match where they defeated VIC 3-2.

Open Womens Team: Gabrielle Millan, Rebecca Hotchkis, Emma Taylor, Layla Riley, Aleisha Price, Naomi Evans, Helen Legge, Samantha Economos, Madeline Dooley, Emma Baxter, Ellie Rayer & Laura Monterosso. 
Coached by Tim Cullen & Glenn Turner. Managed by Leanne Monfries.

Then men went through undefeated with 7 Wins & 1 Draw securing them the Gold Medal against VIC with a 4-1 win. 

Open Mens Team: Brendan Hill, Cameron Brick, Matthew Hotchkis, Glenn Turner, Aiden Dooley, Ben Staines, Connor Tuddenham, Fin Hegyi, Garry Backhus, Jake Staines, Niranjan Gupte, Xavier Gispert.

U21

The U21 men and women followed on after from the 19th - 22nd of December.
The women went through their tournament with 4 Wins and 3 Losses which saw them through to the Bronze Medal match where they defeated NSW 3-1

U21 Womens Team: Hayley Fisher, Jessica Speechley, Emilee O'Grady-Shorten, Layla Riley, Georgia Staines, Sophie Bolton, Chloe Barton, Courtney Booth, Nimah Blake, Imogen Dorsett, Annie Burgess & Laura Monterosso. 
Coached by Brent Clark & Sassie Economos. Managed by Leanne Monfries.

Awards: Leading Goal Scorer - Chloe Barton & Georgia Staines 

The U21 men, much like the Open men, went through undefeated with 6 Wins & 2 Draws securing them the Gold Medal against QLD with a 6-4 win.

U21 Mens Team: Cameron Brick, Luca Barrass-Borzatti, Logan Stewart, Ryan Dooley, Aiden Dooley, Fin Hegyi, Mathew Young, Ruben Martin-Clark, Aidan Smith, Peter Crossman, Jesse Absolom & Aiden Hellyer.

U18

The U18 men and women kicked off the next tournament after the holiday break from the 6th - 9th January.
The women had mixed results  with 3 Wins and 3 Losses which saw them play off for 5th & 6th. Securing 5th postion with a 3-1 win over WA.

U18 Womens Team: Hayley Fisher, Katie Blackmore, Jade Norwood, Sophie Bolton, Ella Woolley, Ellie Challenger, Annaliese Bush, Lucy Neely, Anna Vahey, Rachel Azzopardi, Clare Crossman & Taylah Harriden.
Coached by Andrew Sutton & Taylor Thomson. Managed by Debbie Neely.

The U18 men went through undefeated with 5 Wins, before their only loss, in the Gold Medal match against Vic, 2-1.

U18 Mens Team: Cameron Brick, Shelby Mitchell, Aiden Mosely, Jonte Platten, Blake Dooley, Lane Haymen, Logan Monahan, Peter Crossman, Zack Dos Santos, William Aigner, Aiden Hellyer.

U14

The U14 boys and girls followed on with their campaign from the 11th - 14th January.
The girls battled hard in their matches with some close matches coming out with 2 Wins and 4 Losses, playing off for 5th/6th with a draw at full time taking them to shootouts where they went down 1-0 to NSW B.

U14 Girls Team: Olivia Beresford, Lily Paterson, Alex Beath, Lani Hill, Paige Sloan, Hannah Costigan, Cara Janek, Lexi Norwood, Abby O'Connor, Penny Crossman, Caitlin Somlyay & Josie Wise.
Coached by Tarran Backhus & Laura Monterosso. Managed by Sarah Chandra.

Awards: Player Of The Tournament - Lani Hill 

The boys went through their campain also undefeated with 5 Wins before taking on VIC in the Gold medal match where they were defeated 3-1.

U14 Boys Team: Nate Carloff, Jayden Shiel, Charlie Jenkins, Harry Clark, Eamon Shiel, Elijah McKean, Hayden Fisher, Jonah Mackinnon, Lucas Manning, Liam Carter, Harry Downton & Jett Sureda.
Coached by Andrew Brick & Luke Mackinnon. Mananged by Amanda Clark.

The U16 boys and girls kicked off the next tournament from the 15th-19th of January.
The girls with a even bag of results with 3 wins and 3 losses, two of those losses coming from shootouts after 2 draws at full time, one being the Bronze Medal game against VIC.

U16 Girls Team: Katie Blackmore, Olivia Beresford, Zyanya Holloway, Sofia Havas, Kristen Janse Van Rensburg, Jade Norwood, Ella Woolley, Ellie Challenger, Annaliese Bush, Clare Crossman, Taylah Harriden & Lauren Fisher.
Coached by Rebecca Hotchkis & Emma Taylor. Managed by Sally Pratley.

The boys came up against some tough sides, with 1 Win, 4 Losses & 1 Draw. This saw them play in the 5th/6th play off, losing to VIC 4-0, finishing in 6th position.

U16 Boys Team: William Heffernan, Jonte Platten, Eamon Shiel, Lane Haymen, Shay Leonard, Tyler Smith, Conall Fitzgerald, Decklan Holt, Samuel McKean, Matthew McManus & Gilbert Murrell.
Coached by Thomas Brightling & Peter Crossman. Managed by Lisa Fitzgerald.
