Canberra Chill Announces Final Teams for Season 2
The Canberra Chill have today announced their final teams and coaching staff for season 2 of the Sultana Bran Hockey One league.
The final teams of 20 athletes were selected from an initial training group of over 30. Canberra Chill High Performance Director, Ben Bishop said “some tough decisions were made but we are confident in the final squads selected. We have high hopes for the teams as they head into their second season”.
The Men’s side boasts current Kookaburra Andrew Charter and former Kookaburra Glenn Turner as well as national development squad members Anand Gupte, Jake and Ben Staines, national junior representatives Davis Atkin and Jay MacDonald and a host of local Capital League talent.
The Women’s team features former Hockeyroo’s Edwina Bone, Kalindi Commerford, Naomi Evans, Catriona Bailey-Price and Mikaela Patterson and is further boosted by three international imports with Season One’s MVP Japan’s Shihori Oikawa and New Zealand national players, and sisters, Katie and Madison Doar.
The coaching staff were also announced with Seyi Onitiri as Men’s Head Coach, Meredith Bone and Paul Sureda as Women’s Co-Head Coaches, and Andrew Tomadini and Matthew Hotchkis as Men’s Senior Co-Assistant Coaches.
The Canberra Chill will play their first Sultana Bran Hockey One home game against Hockey Club Melbourne at the National Hockey Centre on Thursday 13th October, 2022.
