CANBERRA CHILL ROUND 2 RECAP & ROUND 3 FORECAST

The rain was forecast to hammer down on Friday and that it did. That didn’t dampen the Chill’s spirit or the crowd as they all rolled in for a Friday night battle on and off the pitch. With lightning and storms on the horizon both teams made sure to start strong in their matches to lock in the win.

Round 2 was an incredibly successful round for both the Chill Men and Women with both teams securing the win against Adelaide Fire. After a big loss to the Perth Thundersticks, the women came out firing with goals and conversions to Naomi Evans (2) and Ellie Rayer (2). The Men followed on with another dominant performance with goals to Kaito Tanaka (1), Aiden Dooley (1), Garry Backhus (1) and on debut, Dylan Brick (3) who fired in 3 goals in his first ever HockeyOne performance. The storms rolled in delaying the Mens match for 30 minutes due to lightning but it didn’t stop them from coming back on strong. Final scores, Women 4-2 and Men 6-2 over Adelaide Fire.

After 2 Rounds the Chill has debuted 11 new faces across the Men and Women’s team with many more fighting their way to make their debut across Season 4 of the Liberty HockeyOne League.

This weekend will see the Chill’s first away game when they travel to Brisbane on Friday to verse the Brisbane Blaze at the Queensland State Hockey Centre Friday night at 6:30pm and 8:00pm (AEST). Last year, the women faced off against the Brisbane Blaze twice, once in the rounds where the Chill secured a win in shootouts after drawing 2-2 in normal time and then again in the Grand Final where they went down 4-1 against a solid Brisbane Blaze side. The men faced off against Brisbane in a thrilling round game where they dominated the majority of the game and leading in a shock outcome before Brisbane battled their way back in and in a dominant display secured the win 6-4 leaving our men feeling a bit deflated.

Both the Chill men and women are hungry for a win against the Blaze this Friday and after 2 dominant games last weekend, this Friday is set to be a thrilling performance at the QLD State Hockey Centre.
