Fair Go, Sport! Pride Round 

11th – 13th September 2020

Hockey ACT is excited to announce that this weekend we will be celebrating and supporting the LGBTQ+ community with our first official Pride Round. Following on from the success of previous year’s Fair Go, Sport! Rounds which saw OCHC and ANU challenge each other for the Fair Go, Sport! Cup, Hockey ACT is extending the celebration league-wide, and inviting all clubs and our hockey community to be actively involved and join in.

The weekend is to celebrate and support all of the gender and sexually diverse members of our community, and tackle homophobia and transphobia in sport. Hockey ACT is committed to better educating both ourselves and the wider community on gender and sexual diversity, understanding barriers to entry for LGBTQ+ people in sport, and ensuring we are providing a safe and welcoming environment for all.

Due to COVID restrictions we are unable to run any on site event/celebrations, but look forward to making the event bigger in years to come.

This year, in addition to the annual Fair Go, Sport! Round; Hockey ACT will be providing LGBTQ+ information, facts and support via our social media channels, and our website. And over the coming weeks and months you will begin to see changes to our public profile, that demonstrates our commitment to the LGBTQ+ community, both in a sporting environment and the greater world.

Hockey ACT also encourage all of our members to wear rainbow coloured accessories this weekend, whether it be a headband, wrist band, mouthguard, ribbon etc. To show your support for LGBTQ+ Pride.
