2021 HOCKEY ACT PRIDE ROUND
Hockey ACT is excited and proud to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community with our annual Pride Round, in conjunction with the Fair Go, Sport! Round.
This weekend is to celebrate and support all of the gender and sexually diverse members of our community, and tackle homophobia and transphobia in sport. Hockey ACT is committed to better educating both ourselves and the wider community on gender and sexual diversity, understanding barriers to entry for LGBTQI+ people in sport, and ensuring we are providing a safe and welcoming environment for all.
Across the weekend, with the assistance of Pride in Sport Australia, Hockey ACT will be providing LGBTQ awareness and information slides via our social media channels. Some of these may be difficult to digest, but are essential in understanding the importance of providing a welcoming and safe space for all.
Additionally, we encourage all of our members to wear rainbow coloured clothing and accessories, to show their support for LGBTQ Pride. If you take any photos over the course of the weekend be sure to tag us in your posts.
While it is unfortunate we are unable to celebrate in person due to the ongoing COVID situation, we are committed to promoting the round digitally in 2021. Come 2022, we hope for a larger community event.
We look forward to celebrating Pride this weekend, with you all.
Love is love, and love always wins!
