2021 Regular Outdoor Season Update
Thursday 2nd September, 2021
Dear Members,
Hope you are all staying safe, and keeping well during lockdown.
As you will be aware the ACT Government has extended the lockdown until Friday 17th September, 2021. In line with dates shared with Clubs and Members last week; it will not be possible for participants to return to training on or before Monday 13th September. As a result, HACT have declared the regular season complete. This means that no further round games will take place for the 2021 winter season.
HACT are disappointed with this outcome but in realistic terms we no longer have sufficient time to complete any round matches. We cannot stress enough our disappointment that we aren’t able to complete the regular season. It has been our aim all year to complete the season, and we have worked through all challenges presented to date, but unfortunately do not have sufficient time to overcome this challenge.
HACT are now focusing on running a finals series for both the senior and junior competition with an anticipated resumption date for matches being 24th September, 2021. However this will be in line with ACT Government Health advice available at the time.
All clubs were advised yesterday of the teams that have qualified for finals in each competition. Please keep an eye on your inbox and socials regarding communication from your respective clubs.
Apologies that our news couldn’t be more positive. It is incredibly disappointing that the season has come to this point. But our concern first and foremost is the health and wellbeing of our membership.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Hockey ACT office via email.
Look after yourselves, and we will be in touch in the coming weeks with further information.
Many thanks,
Hockey ACT
