HOCKEY ACT SET TO RETURN TO TRAINING
With the recent ACT Government announcement allowing outdoor community sport training groups of up to 10 people to commence, Hockey ACT will begin a gradual return to training commencing on Monday 25 May, 2020.
Since the ACT Government’s announcement, Hockey ACT in consultation with ACT Sport & Recreation worked around-the-clock to produce hockey-specific guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe return to training in adherence with the restrictions. The Hockey ACT Return to Training Guidelines were distributed this past Monday to Members, Clubs and Associates, with a public release on Friday 22 May, 2020.
Hockey ACT CEO, Rob Sheekey advises, “Hockey ACT are excited but will remain cautious with our return to play approach. The commencement of training in smaller groups for 4 grades originally will allow us to assess the practicality of the protocols that we have put in place. As we gain confidence than we will gradually open up training to more groups and more teams in alignment with Sport and Recreation ACT guidelines.”
The initial training phase will see the return to training for Capital League Division 1 and 2 teams from Monday 25th May, 2020 at the National Hockey Centre in Lyneham.
The Hockey ACT Staff and Members are excited to return to the pitch, and hope that the Canberra community can follow along the current trajectory, and see further training and even the potential for a competition in the near future.
