HOCKEY AUSTRALIA CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE OUTCOME
Hockey ACT and its bidding partners acknowledge and accept the outcome of the Hockey Australia’s Centre of Excellence expression of interest process and would like to congratulate Hockey Western Australia and the Western Australian Government on their success in retaining the program in Perth and the strength of their application.
The program has been located in Perth since 1980 and Hockey ACT were appreciative of the opportunity to put forward an incredibly strong business case to relocate the program to Canberra in 2025 leading into the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
Hockey ACT President Craig Sloan added, “While we are disappointed with the outcome we are incredibly proud of the option that Canberra put forward. The Board of Hockey ACT are confident in the process that has been conducted by Hockey Australia and are delighted that the outcome is a great outcome for Hockey in Australia”.
The process will see Hockey Australia’s Administration and High Performance staff along with its two national teams the Kookaburras and Hockeyroos based in Perth until the Brisbane 2032 Olympics.
Hockey ACT will not make further comment on the process.
