Hotty says farewell to Australian Indoor Hockey
After an incredible 56 caps, Matthew Hotchkis calls time on his long international career.
Hotchkis kicked off his career for Australia in the 2007 Indoor Hockey World Cup, becoming a permanant fixture in Australian sides, being selected in the 2011, 2015 and finally in 2025 where he decided to all time after competing in the Indoor World Cup in Porec, Croatia at the young age of 43.
An incredible journey over almost 20 years of representative duty, Hotty finished his career off strong with a Player of the Match performance against Namibia in his fourth World Cup apperance.
A special moment for the ACT in the lead up to the 2025 Indoor World Cup where Canberra and surrounds got to watch Hotty captain the Australian side at the Oceania World Cup Qualifiers in Canberra, where he also ticked over his 50th cap for Australia. Playing another 6 matches in Croatia, Hotty finishes his career as Australias most capped indoor player.
Aside from his international career, Hotty has been an intergal part of the ACT indoor teams with over 60 caps being part of the ACT side from 2014-2024.
