CANBERRA CHILL WOMEN – IN IT TO WIN IT

The Canberra Chill women are in the nail biting end of the season and are still needing results to keep them in the chance for the big dance in Hobart on November 30 and December 1.

The Chill women headed down to Hobart over the weekend to take on the Tassie Tigers. With a mixed bag of results, the women are still in the race to lock their spot in finals and a win over the Tigers would have made things slightly easier on the home stretch.

The women faced a solid Tigers side that were out to prove they deserve to be in their home finals at the end of the month. The Chill women were in for the fight with the Tigers slotting in a penalty corner in the 10th minute and then a field goal and conversion in the 18th and 19th minute to take them to a 3-0 lead into half time. The Chill women were in it for the long game with Naomi Evans slotting in a field goal and conversion in the 40th minutes to close the gap with a 3-2 scoreline.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be this time for the Chill women, unable to slot in another goal. Final score 3-2.

With two more games to go, the Chill women still have an opportunity to make it to the final’s series in Hobart.

This weekend the Chill are in a do or die match against Hockey Club Melbourne, with both teams battling it off to continue their finals run. Both teams will lay it all on the pitch this Friday night, whoever loses this match will see the end of their finals campaign.

The Canberra Chill women have the fire in their bellies and are itching to prove they deserve another go at lifting the Hockey One trophy on December 1st. After all, they have to be in it to win it.

The Canberra Chill take on Hockey Club Melbourne this Friday night 15th November for their last home game at the National Hockey Centre. The men up first at 6:30pm followed by the women at 8:00pm.
