COIVD DEFERS TWO CAPITAL LEAGUE MATCHES

Hockey ACT has today taken the step to defer two Duncan’s Plumbing Capital League 1 matches scheduled for Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 May 2021 between Albury Wodonga Spitfires and ANU Men’s Hockey Club scheduled to be played in Albury.

Given the current Covid lockdown in place for the whole of Victoria, the number of players Albury Wodonga have that are Victorian residents and not wanting to put ANU or the greater ACT Public at risk this decision is the sensible approach in the current climate.

At this stage these matches are being deferred with an aim to reschedule them for later in the year when the health advice improves.

Hockey ACT CEO Rob Sheekey: “I want to thank both the Spitfires and ANU for their understanding at this time. Ultimately we want to ensure we don’t place any members or the community at risk by pushing ahead with these fixtures. We believe these games can be rescheduled so letting the current situation in Victoria play out and waiting to see what happens in the next few days was the logical choice”.

The remainder of the hockey competitions will go ahead as scheduled this weekend.
