About the program:

The JOEYS program aims to:

  • Introduce young hockey players to umpiring and provide suitable support to help them develop
  • Provide education opportunities for umpires to develop their skills and knowledge of the game
  • Develop umpires to be able to gain accreditation and umpire higher levels of hockey

For 2020 – it has been confirmed JOEYS will be umpiring the following competitions.

  • 18/1s – Thursday afternoons
  • U15/1s – Saturday mornings
  • U13/1 and U13/2 – Sunday mornings

Hockey ACT are currently working on revamping the education side to the JOEYS program. All education seminars for this year will take place via ZOOM, and not face to face.

COVID: The Umpires Checklist  provides you with guidance on umpiring for this year. Please make sure you check the HACT website regularly for updates.

Spitting: Please ensure you have read this new competition rule regarding spitting.

Payments: remember – to be paid you need to write your name CLEARLY on the umpire attendance sheet. If we cannot confirm you umpired the game then you will not be paid for it.

As per previous seasons, JOEYS and Mentor match payments will be made at the end of the year.
